The person suffering from type one diabetes, he or she is likely to be suffering from the coma caused by the low blood sugar and if the person suffers from the type two diabetes, he or she is likely to suffer diabetic coma caused by the diabetic hyperosmolar syndrome especially if he or she is of an old age or a middle age.

Factors That Put You At The Risk Of Diabetic Coma :-

1. Insulin Delivery Problems :-

If the person is on an insulin pump, he is to check his blood sugar level frequently and even a kink in the pump might stop all the sort of insulin delivery. The lack of insulin vcan even lead to the diabetic keto-acidosis if the person suffers from the type one diabetes.
Several other medical conditions such as the congestive heart failure or kidney disease are even likely to increase the risk of diabetic hyperosmolar syndrome.

2. Poorly Managed Diabetes :-

Diabetes if managed poorly and the blood sugar level if not monitored properly may even result in diabetic coma. If the person is not taking the medications properly, he or she is likely to develop long term coma complications in him.

3. Skipping The Insulin Deliberately :-

Sometimes, if the person is skipping the insulin deliberately, then it also might result in coma. When the individual with diabetes in him has an eating disorder and choses not to use his insulin as directed by the doctor just to loose some weight, it can prove to be life- threatening practice for him and might increase the risk of diabetic coma.

4. Never Drink Alcohol If You Want To Be Free Of Diabetic Coma :-

Drinking alcohol might have adverse effects on the blood sugar level of the person that are totally unpredictable and sometimes might even drop the sugar levels in blood as long as a day or two after the alcohol was consumed and that can increase the risk of the diabetic coma that is caused by the hypoglycemia. Drinking alcohol increases your risk of getting diabetic coma and even the usage of the illegal drugs like cocaine etc also puts you at the risk of diabetic coma as that is likely to increase your blood sugar levels.

5. Prevention Of Diabetic Coma :-

It is an universal fact that prevention is better than cure and all the factors that put you at the risk of diabetic coma explained above should be kept in mind and the person should react accordingly and make him away of the factors that put him to the risk of diabetic coma to prevent it from happening to him.
