1. Change only one factor at a time:-
You can conduct a fair test by making sure that you change one factor at a time while keeping all other conditions the same. By saying this line here, I mean that you should adopt any change in something only in a slow and steady way. For example, if you are making an experiment counting the amount of water that flows in a specific amount of time through a water tap, you will have to allow only a specific amount of water drop by drop out of it so as to get the accurate readings.
2. Never be partial:-
Never be partial with your experiment. If you use someone else’s estimate as your final reading, you might be mistaken. Besides this, the usage of tools with minimum precision error is also advised. The more precise and accurate your tools and devices are, the better and accurate will they give the results.
3. Take A Few Concordant Readings:-
You should take a few concordant readings for your experiment. An initial or single reading should never be taken as a proof by an experimenter. You should take at least 4-5 concordant readings for your experiment and then you should take an average of those readings to find the value which is close to accurate value.
4. Keen Observation:-
Keen observation is also one of the traits of experiments to make them fair. Everything should be noted down on piece of paper to remember it till last. For example, if you are noting down the values of a Vernier caliper or any other such device, a keen observation of scales related to that device will be the base of your fair test.
5. It Should Not Be Impacted By the Other Conditions:-
We know that conditions like temperature, pressure etc. make a direct or indirect effect on matter and thus if you are making an experiment based on gases, solids or liquids, your experiment should not be impacted by these conditions or factors in order to obtain perfect values.
6. It Should Not Be disturbed By anyone:-
Some people begin their experiment with a very keen interested mood, but as soon as the observer leaves the lab, they get indulged in talks and cracking jokes. Any other person who comes in contact with your apparatus during this time will be free to make changes to it and sometimes even if he/she has not come with the intentions to spoil your experiment, still some effects are likely to be caused. You should never let your experiment be disturbed by anyone to make it a fair test as this avoids such chances of getting it spoiled because of someone else’s interference in between.
