The Tatkaal ticket scheme is an Indian Railways Scheme for traveling at very short notices. Railway Minister Nitish Kumar had introduced this scheme for journey in all forms of reserved class in almost all the express trains of India. There are two ways to book these kinds of tickets. One is the offline method which includes you to reach the ticket counter in order to get it booked and the other is the online method. People are aware with the way to book these tickets, but there are questions arising about the way these booked tickets can be cancelled and this can be accomplished following the ways that we have mentioned here.
How to Cancel Tatkal Ticket
1. Get it cancelled From the Counter:-
There is a ticket counter on every railway station. There is also a reservation counter near this counter, which opened daily from 10 am for Air Conditioned class and from 11am for non air conditioned class. Simply reach this ticket counter with your ticket in order to get it cancelled and they will cancel it for you.
2. Compromise on the Name of Refunds:-
If you are thinking that you will get all your money back by cancelling your ticket, you might be mistaken with it. Indian railways offer you a 50 Percent Refund if you cancel your ticket more than one day before the date of journey. In some other cases, there may not be any refund made for this purpose.
3. Cancel It So That Non-Tatkaal Seat Holder May Get Confirmed Berth:-
Even if you can claim no refunds or that you have cancelled your travel after the refund time has ended, you can still cancel it so that any non-tatkaal seat holder may get a berth confirmed for him. It is always preferred that you follow this fact in your mind while going for the cancellation of your ticket.
4. Waitlist Do Move When Non-Tatkaal Holders Cancel Too:-
Waitlist do move when non-tatkaal holders cancel too. If you still have any doubts/ complaints/ regrets associated with the cancellation of tickets or refunds, all your words are welcomed on reservation counter or the inquiry. Railway staff is always ready to assist you with these things.
5. No Claims for Confirmed Tickets:-
If your ticket was a confirmed one, this might make it impossible to fetch you a refund. You can still cancel it if you have postponed your journey. You should read the terms and conditions offered by the railways for tatkaal ticket sewa before booking any journey if you are against this as a confirmed ticket means a berth reserved for you. Railways have to make some formalities and thus they can’t give back your money for a confirmed ticket.
6. IRCTC Helpline to Be Bought In Use:-
Indian Railways have issued a dedicated toll-free helpline for this purpose. If you find any difficulty in cancellation of your tatkaal ticket, you can simply call 1800-111-139. Calling this number won’t cost you a single paisa and the executive who answers your call can be asked any question related with tatkaal ticket cancellation and refunds from your side if you feel doubtful about anything related to it.
