How to Apply For Passport in India
Who Issues The Passport?
Indian passport is issued by the councilor, passport and visa (C.P.U) division of ministry of external affairs of government. You have to go to the regional passport office (RPC) and through the consulates and embassies in the other countries.
Documents That I Need To Attach With The Passport Application:-
1. Proof of residence:-
The first thing that you will need to provide along with your application is a proof of residence. It may be your electricity bill or telephone bill or even a stay proof or even ration card. If you are studying in a college, you can get a proof attested from the principal of your college, assuring that you are staying there for last one year or you may even get a bank statement for last year. You may even be asked to provide a copy of ration card of one of your neighbors to guarantee your stay for last few years.
2. Birth certificate:-
The municipal corporation issues your birth certificate. Your birth certificate is also the proof of your age. You will have to specify it along with the other documents.
These are the important documents that we are mentioning, but you might also need to specify your voter card, your aadhar card, your driving license or your pan card or even your matric mark sheet so you should keep all these proofs ready in case you need them.
3. Modes of Payment:
The fees can be made either online or offline depending on the mode of application. You can choose to pay the fees to a nearest bank through challan or you may even pay the fees through your credit card or debit card or through net banking or demand draft, etc.
How Can I Apply For A Passport?
You can apply for a passport by filling an application form in the regional passport office or a (P.S.K) Passport Seva Kendra or through the district passport cells by going directly or you can even contact some local dealer that can help you get the passport from that office. There is also a helpline number issued by the government to call anytime between 8:00 am in the morning to 10:00 pm in the night for queries regarding this purpose. The helpline number is 1800-258-1800. If you feel to ask something regarding this process, you can feel free to call the number from nearest telephone booth or mobile.
These centers deal with new passports and renewal of torn or deteriorated or lost passports. You need to submit all the necessary documents along with your application to this office and then your application will be sent for approval to the higher officials after making the necessary payments and formalities. The authorities will confirm the proof of your residence and then your passport will be issued.
