1. Complete Your 10th Class:-

If you have newly entered your teenage, you should focus on your 10th class first as the marks that you get in this class will decide which stream will you opt after completing your 10th standard. Clear up the exams with at least a merit so as to get admitted in non-medical stream and then only you will be able to take the further steps.

2. Take Some Professional Diploma:-

After completing your 10th class, you will get two options, the first is to choose polytechnic as a means of your career and do diploma in engineering. The doors for making a career in engineering will get opened for you this way or else you may choose to keep on studying and take admission in the “Non-Medical” or “Combined” stream.

3. After Getting Admitted In 11th Class:-

11th and 12th both will be the base of your further education. After choosing the desired stream for becoming an engineer, you are advised to complete your further schooling and that too with a merit. While you will be completing your 12th class, you will need to fill forms for AIEEE or IIT that are both the entrance tests for the top most engineering colleges and universities in India. The marks that you get in 12th as well as the marks that you will get in these tests will determine your further career.

4. After 12th class:-

After clearing the 12th class and preferably the entrance tests, the counseling will make you get admitted to some good engineering college or University. Preferably you will need to go for the B. Tech. Which is a bachelor degree in technology. This degree is of four years completing which you will be placed in some good multinational company or you may even choose to fill forms for various government jobs as well.

5. Doing Degree After Diploma:-

It has been seen that it gets quiet difficult for a diploma holder to become an engineer, these are often hired for the post of Junior Engineer only though further promotion depends on their work but still if they choose to go for the bachelor’s degree after completing the diploma, they can easily get admitted to some good college or University that makes them pursue their degree in bachelor of technology and this will not be of four years in this case and instead this will be of three years for these students.

6. What after B.Tech?

After B.tech, you may choose to prepare for the “GATE” exam or “DET’ exam after doing the diploma. In the case of B.tech degree holders, they may even choose to go for the post-graduation degree in engineering as well and that is M.tech which will open up doors for them to become an engineering college professor.
